A pediatric occupational therapist provides therapy to develop, recover, or maintain meaningful activity (occupations) skills in the primary areas of development: cognitive, physical, social-emotional, & adaptive (self-help) skills. Some primary occupations include play, family and caregiver interactions and attachment, eating, sleeping, potty learning, and dressing. Interventions will focus on increasing the child’s participation in the meaningful occupations of early childhood within the family. The therapist provides family education and child-centered interventions that are research-based and culturally relevant to each family.
Pediatric speech & language pathologists evaluate and treat receptive and expressive communication challenges. They are experienced in treating delays in the following areas: language delay and language disorders, such as apraxia, dysarthria, orofacial myofunctional disorders, and speech sound disorders.
